Born in 1985 in Zarand, Iran, Hura (Hajar) Mirshekari studied mathematics in Zābol before choosing to pursue her passion for painting. Without difficulty, she passed her entrance exam to the University of Sistan and Balochistan in Zāhedān. She studied painting with the masters of Iranian art and making renditions and personal works. In a context where the artistic expression of women remains difficult and often censored, Hura Mirshekari gives voice, in her painting but also on stage, through the song and the performances she realizes. Her work, focusing on women and by the distinctive appearances of masks soon gained success. Winning numerous awards, she has exhibited in Iran and abroad, and also teaches visual arts to young children. Her painting, 'Look at Me', was presented as one of the major works of the festival 'Voices of Muslim Women', in California in 2011.
In 2015, her painting, 'After the War', was nominated at the Peace Festival of Tehran in 2015, before being exhibited the same year. Since 2016, she has lived in France at the Cité Internationale des Arts and has never stopped painting and looking for new forms of expression. She has contributed to several exhibitions as part of Open Studio and has already received prestigious commissions. In January 2018, her work ‘Execution’ was chosen to be exhibited in the Ministry of Culture showcases in the gardens of the Royal Palace. In November 2018, she exhibited at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, a monumental portrait as part of the exhibition Regarde-moi.

Née en 1985 à Zarand en Iran, Hura (Hajar) Mirshekari étudie les mathématiques à Zābol avant de choisir de poursuivre sa passion pour la peinture. Sans difficulté, elle réussit son examen d’entrée à l’université du Sistan-et-Baloutchistan à Zāhedān. Elle étudie la peinture avec les maîtres de l’art iranien et signe des oeuvres revendicatrices et personnelles. Dans un contexte où l’expression artistique des femmes demeure difficile et souvent censurée, Hura Mirshekari donne de la voix, dans sa peinture mais aussi sur scène, à travers le chant et les performances qu’elle réalise.
Son oeuvre vivante, marquée par le thème de la femme et par le signe distinctif du masque, remporte rapidement un vif succès. Elle gagne de nombreux prix, est exposée en Iran et à l’Étranger, enseigne également les arts plastiques aux jeunes enfants. Sa peinture, ‘Regarde-Moi’, est présentée comme une des oeuvres majeures du festival ‘Voix de femmes musulmanes’, en Californie en 2011. En 2015, son tableau, ‘Après la Guerre’, est nommé au Festival de la Paix de Téhéran en 2015, avant d’être exposé la même année.

depuis 2016, elle réside en France, à la Cité Internationale des Arts et n’a jamais cessé de peindre et de rechercher de nouvelles formes d’expression. Elle a contribué à plusieurs expositions en Open Studio et a déjà reçu des commandes prestigieuses. En janvier 2018, son oeuvre ‘Exécution’ est choisie pour être exposée dans les Vitrines du Ministère de la Culture, dans les jardins du Palais Royal. En novembre 2018, elle expose au Palais de la Porte Dorée, un portrait monumental dans le cadre de l’exposition Regarde-moi.
