I’m Mallorie Hsu, Associate Podcast Producer and Interviewer from Pitzer College. I am originally from Taipei, Taiwan and am majoring in art history. I'm collaborating on various interviews and podcasts in the art field and learning about the intersections between STEM and art disciplines with other contributors of The Creative Process. It is inspiring to be able to work with such an incredibly diverse team of intelligent and passionate thinkers!

Through my collaboration with The Creative Process, I have an understanding of the organization’s online and physical exhibitions and the ways in which it expands conversations and facilitates relationships through various universities, writers, students, etc. The fact that The Creative Process collaborates with universities around the world is among several other aspects of the organization that caught my attention. By engaging with such an incredibly diverse team of intelligent and passionate thinkers and participating in various educational initiatives (such as workshops) I am motivated to constantly grow and improve my craft. My overall goals are to communicate my ideas more confidently and to collaborate together in an effective manner.

I am currently a senior at Pitzer College pursuing a major in Art History. Learning more about The Creative Process has led me to discover their unwavering desire to create an inclusive and cultural environment. Their impressive projects and exhibitions that they have held in the past and their tireless motivation to keep the legacy going are all qualities that I am searching for in an internship.

I am originally from Taiwan, a beautiful place I am proud to call home. Attending college in the US has exposed me to diverse cultures and allowed me to gain confidence in working with individuals from different backgrounds. My education and upbringing have fostered strong critical thinking and writing skills. These skills are essential both for creating a piece of artwork and also in engaging and understanding the nuances of what a particular piece of work represents. I am blessed with constant creativity, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. It is because of these skills and more that I believe I can contribute significant value and become a strong asset for your non-profit. My previous experience in working with museum collections has been both rewarding and inspiring. Helping artists display and promote their work in a way that makes them proud is something I am passionate about I have experience working in the museum collections and arts education. The responsibilities related looking after the collection   properly storing pieces, analyzing the condition of loans after deinstallation, writing condition reports, researching, executing communication campaigns and program implementation has been a welcome experience and improved my attention to detail greatly.

I recently returned from Italy where I worked as an intern at the historical Palazzo della Pilotta. Together with a team of twenty Italian students, we came up with ways to revamp the museum’s digital presence by using various social media platforms as a means of storytelling. Overall the project was a grand success. I am very excited to contribute positively to the goals and vision of The Creative Process

I am currently in the process of compiling the research I’ve done for my Art history thesis project. It is about Mexican muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros and his influence on Chinese art/artists and the development of the global muralist movement during the mid-1900s. I plan to interview international artist and curator Shengtian Zheng, one of the few individuals who have explored the intersections/relationship between Mexico and China. I will also be analyzing manifestos, letters, and paintings created by various artists.

A 2017 exhibition hosted by Pacific Asia Museum inspired me to explore the topic even further and transform it into a research project. I am passionate about working in museum/gallery collections, arts education (specifically in the non-profit sector). I am motivated by the need to promote the importance of arts and creativity in our community.
